Conclusion
Object and software metrics are a great way to track the progress of your project as well as its quality and other factors. Measuring facts makes me more comfortable than taking wild guesses. What fascinates me the most is the fact that you can actually measure the quality of source code by applying some of the most basic metrics a task that could hardly be accomplished otherwise.
There is a wide variety of metrics you can use. I usually use only those described in this chapter. If you are interested in more information about metrics, I recommend reading Object Oriented Software Metrics by Mark Lorenz and Jeff Kidd (Prentice Hall, 1994, ISBN: 0-13-179292-X).
