Chapter 22 -- Drawing and Editing to Create New Shapes

Chapter 22

If you're like most people, you would prefer that Visio contain all the shapes you want. At some point, however, you'll probably need to create a shape that Visio doesn't already have or revise a shape slightly (or extensively) to better suit a diagram. At these times, you'll need to take advantage of Visio's drawing tools. Whether you're a whiz with drawing tools or not, the good news is that you don't necessarily have to draw a shape from scratch even when you can't find the exact shape you want on an existing stencil. It's almost always faster to start with an existing shape and then modify it to suit your needs.

This chapter presents the pros and cons of various shape drawing and editing techniques and describes in detail all the drawing tools and techniques you can use. For shape developers and others who want to understand shapes inside out, this chapter also discusses shapes in terms of their geometry.
