You'll see this term now and then, in the press and on the Internet. 802.11x is not an IEEE task group! (At this writing, early in 2003, they're only up to the letter 'k.') What people mean by '802.11x' is 'all the 802.11 wireless networking standards.' In other words, when they say, '802.11x security is easily crackable,' they mean that the 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless standards are all prey to the same weaknesses in their security features.
Also, please don't confuse the term '802.11x' with the security standard '802.1X.' (Nobody said this would be easy, right?)
