STEP 04 establishing the GUIDE LAYER

Suppose I want to create a set of guides on which to base my layout. By using Flash's guide layer feature I can establish these guides and not have to worry about erasing them prior to exporting the file. In other words, although I'll see them and use them in my authoring environment, they won't appear when I export my completed animation. Here's a quick way to perfectly set guides.

1. Double-click on the icon for the top layer, called guides, to open the Layer Properties dialog.

2. Set the Type to Guide and enable the View Layer as Outlines option as shown in figure 02:06. Click OK.
