The Seller's Assistant program, detailed in 154 Manage Multiple Listings with Seller's Assistant , runs as a desktop applicationthat is, it runs as a piece of software on your computer. But not everyone wants to download and run software because it can lead to system conflicts and be time-consuming .

If you'd prefer to manage multiple listings directly on the Web, you should use Selling Manager . Like Seller's Assistant , you must subscribe to the Selling Manager. A Selling Manager subscription costs $4.99 per month, but if you already have a Seller's Assistant account, you won't need to pay extra for it; it will be included in the price for Seller's Assistant . You can try Selling Manager for free for 30 days. To get started, go to http://pages.ebay.com/selling_manager/ and click the Subscribe Now button. Then follow the subscription instructions. Here's how to use the program after you've subscribed:

1.
Go to Selling Manager

Click the My eBay tab at the top of any eBay page and sign in. Then click the Selling Manager tab. (The tab shows up only after you've subscribed to Selling Manager .) You see a quick summary of all your eBay selling activity, including current listings, listings slated to begin in the next day, and listings in which items have already sold. The summary shows the totals for each area, including the gross amount of money you've made.

TIP

Your listings don't show up immediately under the Selling Manager tab after you sign up for Selling Manager . It can take several hours for them to be imported from eBay.

2.
Check Your Active Listings

In the Selling Manager Summary list, click the Active Listings link to see a list of all your currently active auctions. Each active auction includes vital details such as the number of bids, the current price, the item number, the time the auction ends, and a link to the auction.

From the Active Listings page, you can also easily create new auctions based on any existing current auction. Click the small symbol at the far right of the isting, underneath the Action column, to start a new auction using the same information from the existing auction as a starting point. Edit the information to complete the auction.

NOTE

The Active Listings page also shows, at a glance, the format of each auction, such as a fixed-price auction, a traditional auction, and so on. Look at the icon in the Format column and check the bottom of the page for a guide to the icons.

3.
Check Your Pending Listings

Click the Pending Listings link on the Summary page to see all your current listings. The display is similar to that for the Active Listings . Click any listing to edit it. You should check your pending listings from the Pending Listings page to ensure that they contain the proper information and edit them before they go live.

4.
Check Your Sold Listings

Click the Sold Listings link to see all the items you've successfully sold. This is the most useful portion of the Selling Manager software because, when you sell many items, you can easily lose track of which have been sold, which have been paid for, which have been shipped, and so on.

The Sold Listings page shows you, at a glance, the statuses of all the items you've sold and includes the buyer, the sales price, the sale date, and other relevant information. On the far right side of each item is a series of icons that tell you whether the items have been paid for or shipped, whether you've sent an email to the buyer, and similar information.

5.
Send an Email to the Buyer

From the Sold Listings page, you can easily send an email to the buyer, notifying her that she's the high bidder or reminding her to pay you. Click the buyer's name to open a prewritten email you can customize. After you've finished customizing the message, click the Send Email button to send it to the buyer. On the Sold Listings page, an icon appears in the auction entry showing that an email has been sent.

6.
Mark Auctions Paid and Shipped

As you are paid by buyers and as you ship items to them, make notes of these landmarks in Selling Manager so you can easily track all your selling activity. Put a check in the box next to the auction for which you've been paid or for which you've been paid and shipped the goods, and click the Mark Paid, Mark Shipped , or Mark Paid & Shipped buttons at the top of the auction list. You come to a page asking for confirmation. Click Confirm Status and the proper icon shows up next to that auction on the Sold Listings page in Selling Manager . As your auctions proceed, keep marking them in this way so you have a complete record of the statuses of all your auctions.

TIP

Selling Manager does not actually link to your emails or to any payments that have been made to you. That means you have to track those transactions yourself, either on paper or using another program, and then input them into Selling Manager .
