Although the Timeline might be a simple graphic representation of your sequence, you now know that there is more to the Timeline than simple track selection. Many sequence changes can be performed right in the Timeline. Let's review some of the key points from this chapter:

Holding down the Command key (Macintosh OS) or the Ctrl key (Windows) snaps your Position Indicator to transitions in the Timeline.
Any track can be soloed. Command-click (Macintosh OS) or Control-click (Windows) any of the monitors to solo a track.
You can add up and edit on up to 24 tracks of video and 24 tracks of audio to your Timeline.
To perform a slip, drag a lasso around the beginning and the end of a clip in the Timeline.
To perform a slide, drag a lasso around the beginning and the end of the clip while holding down the Option key (Macintosh) or the Shift+Alt keys (Windows).
Segment mode editing can be done with either a Lift/Overwrite or an Extract/Splice-in.
You can use the segment mode buttons to delete clips from the Timeline.
In the Timeline's Fast Menu, you choose what information will be displayed in the clip.
Dupe detection highlights any material, down to a single frame, used more than once in the Timeline on the same track.
Clips, tracks, and the Timeline's background can be assigned a color .
You can save your Timeline's view by choosing Save As at the bottom of the Timeline.
The Timeline's settings can customize many of the features within the Timeline.
