Data Binding

The Internet Explorer supports several data source objects (DSOs) that you can use to bind data in various formats to elements in a web page. To bind a DSO to an element, you can use the DATASRC , DATAFLD , and DATAFORMATAS attributes we saw in Chapter 5, "Using Core HTML Properties." (See "The dataFld , dataFormatAs , and dataSrc Properties" in Chapter 5.) You can then treat the data bound to those elements as a recordset , which has methods that enable you to navigate through your data using JavaScript, as we'll see.

The three Internet Explorer DSOs we'll take a look at are the MSHTML control, the Tabular Data Control (TDC), and the XML DSO. They all come built in to the Internet Explorer.
