A controller is used to send a message to a MIDI device. Two numbers are associated with a controller. The first number is the controller number, which specifies the function of the MIDI device that is to be controlled by the message. The second number is the controller value. A full list of controller numbers and the functions they provide can be found by searching the Internet.
