Support for New Hardware Standards

In addition to the implementation of the ACPI power-management standard, Windows 2000 supports a variety of important new hardware standards, including:

• Universal serial bus (USB)
• IEEE 1394 (Firewire)
• DVD
• Zip drives

The operating system includes an elegant DVD player, allowing you to play back high-quality movies on your computer screen. You can read about the DVD player in Chapter 36, "Using the Multimedia Accessories."
