INTRODUCTION

When a page is filled with text, Word automatically begins a new page by inserting a page break for you. Sometimes, however, you'll want to manually insert a page break. For example, if you are writing a report with multiple topic sections, you might want each topic to begin at the top of a new page.

TIP

Types of Page Breaks

Breaks can be either automatic when the break naturally places text on the next page (Page break), column (Column break), or line (Text wrapping break) or manual (if you force text to the next page, column, or line). You can press the Ctrl+Enter shortcut key to insert the page break in your document. To delete a manual page break, click the dotted line that represents the page break in Normal view and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
