Working with Framesets

Framesets allow the application to be divided into multiple sectionslike the design panes used to navigate the Designer client. Frames allow you to add structure to a Notes client or Web browser application interface. Each pane can then be set to display unique informationsuch as form, view, page, etc.

Two Frames

Three Frames

Four Frames

For example, your Lotus Notes mail calendar utilizes a two-pane frameset. The left pane displays a monthly snapshot and "To Do" list. Users can also scroll through the calendar months and click on a date to jump directly to the corresponding calendar date entry. The right pane, as illustrated in Figure 4.34, displays the daily, weekly, monthly, and meeting views. The combination of these left and right panes comprises this frameset.

Note

Framesets are used to define the application appearance by dividing the window into multiple frames and are dependent on other design elements. Content is then embedded in each frame section.

Framesets are dependent on other design elements within the Domino Designer. They can be configured in many different ways. See Chapter 12, "Web Applications," for additional information on how to create a frameset for a Notes database or Web application.
