Appendix A. An Introduction to the Rational Unified Process (RUP)

This appendix provides a brief introduction to the Rational Unified Process (RUP). Our intention is to give you some context for the discussions in this book about RUP. Today (as of RUP version 2003), RUP is a complete process platform that contains a knowledge base and tools for authoring, configuring, and deploying the configured process. Consult the Rational RUP pages ^[1] for information about the complete RUP product. This appendix just describes an overview of the concepts in the RUP process framework, one part of the complete RUP product.
