Letter from the Series Editor

If you're interested in making games and find that many of the game programming books, or books on programming in general, are too complicated or too long, then this book is for you! This is exactly why we created Game Programming for Teens . The author, Maneesh Sethi, made this book a lot easier than most game development books. Although the title states the book is for teens, it's really for anyone who wants to learn how to make games in an easy, fun way. Instead of using C/C++ or other advanced computer languages, Maneesh used Blitz Basic (included on the CD), which is very easy to use and lets you do graphics and sound, all built in! This way, you can focus on learning game programming without having to learn a complicated computer language.

Additionally, since Blitz Basic is a derivative of the language BASIC, you don't need any programming experience at all; the book will teach you BASIC as you go. Therefore, if you want a simple guide to making games, then this book is great, and if you're on the "younger" side, then even better, since the book has been written with younger readers in mind.

So, if you're just reading along in the book to see if you're interested, take a look aroundlook at the figures and some of the games that are developed in the book, and hopefully you'll find that this book is what you've been looking for!

Sincerely,

Andr LaMothe
