In this lab, you're going to add users to your eDirectory tree and populate their business information attributes. Then you will use eGuide to search for information in the tree. Finally, you will configure object attributes used by eGuide. Complete the following steps:

Start iManager by opening a web browser and navigating to https ://your_server's_IP_address/nps/iManager.html.
Authenticate as admin with a password of novell .

Using the Create Object task under eDirectory Administration , create the following user objects in your tree with the following attributes:

Test the data by completing the following steps:
1. In your browser window, open https:// your_server_IP_address /eGuide.
2. Authenticate to eGuide as admin with a password of novell .
3. In the Find People drop-down lists, select Last Name and Starts With .
4. In the Find People field, enter co and then select Search.
5. You should see Dave Coughanour and Jason Corry located in the search. View the information eGuide pulled from eDirectory.
6. Select the Organizational Chart tab. The organizational structure you defined in the user object attributes is displayed.

Configure the attributes displayed by eGuide by completing the following steps:

In eGuide, select Administration Utility .
Select LDAP Data Sources .
On the New_Data_Source line, select Edit .
Select the Attributes tab.

Mark the following check boxes for the following attributes:

Click Save .
Click the Launch eGuide Client icon.
In the first Find People drop-down list, verify that the preceding searchable attributes are included in the list.
Search for the DCoughanour user object. Verify that the attributes configured previously are displayed.

That's it for eGuide. It's a very solid product that works very well right out of the box. You've probably noticed as we went through the preceding content that it really doesn't require a lot of administrative intervention to deploy.

With eGuide done, you'll now learn about the Linux User Management component of NNLS.
