Enabling lpd for Command-Line Printing

Enabling lpd for Command-Line Printing

After you have configured the /etc/printcap file, you can start lpd. As root, you can simply type lpd from the command line to start it. If you want to have lpd start up automatically each time the system boots, add the following line to /etc/rc.conf:

lpd_enable="YES"

You should now be able to print from the command line by following the instructions in the next section. If printing doesn't work correctly, see the troubleshooting section at the end of the chapter.
