Michael Smick is a project manager and multimedia developer at Walsworth Publishing Company's Desktop Technology department. He produces animated video tutorials for Adobe Photoshop and InDesign and creates video presentations using Adobe Premiere and After Effects. He also writes technical manuals and travels to various design workshops teaching students how to use Adobe software to create their yearbooks. Mike is also a freelance web developer and does graphics and publication training and consulting for small businesses and organizations. He is an Adobe Certified Expert in InDesign. He produced the InDesign CS training series for AtomicLearning.com and teaches Adobe software at community classes for the University of Missouri Kansas City. He also writes articles on graphics and other publishing topics and the occasional rant at his personal website Smick.net.
Pariah S. Burke is the former Technical Lead for Illustrator, InDesign, InCopy, PageMaker, and Acrobat, and MVP for Photoshop, prepress, typography, and QuarkXPress of Adobe's technical support team. He is the author of Adobe Illustrator CS2 @ Work: Projects You Can Use on the Job (Sams Publishing, 2005), and the editor-in-chief of the websites Quark VS InDesign.com (www.QuarkVSInDesign.com) and Designorati (www.Designorati.com). Throughout his 20 years as a creative professional, Pariah's greatest passion is, and has always been, using and teaching the tools and techniques of the graphic communication arts. Pariah travels the world teaching, speaking, and consulting on Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, InCopy, Creative Suite, and numerous other tools and processes in modern design and production workflows.
Francisco Meza started his career in Graphic Arts at a very young age working a stat camera at an uncle's studio during school holidays. After surviving the shift from traditional to digital graphic production, Francisco has acquired a vast experience designing and producing for a varied assortment of media, from process offset to flexo, screening, embroidery, and the Web. Currently Francisco runs his own graphics studio in Toronto, Canada. In his free time, he writes tutorials on Photoshop and writes stories for a publication in Seoul, Korea.
Steve Moniz is the Prepress Director for Nameplates for Industry, Inc. in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Formerly the owner of SCM Training and Consulting in Boston, Massachusetts, Steve regularly consulted on web design and web design applications, including Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash and Adobe GoLive. As a computer software trainer for 10 years, Steve taught courses in everything from Macintosh basics to advanced Photoshop, QuarkXPress, HTML programming, and web design. On the cutting edge of desktop publishing and electronic prepress technology since its inception in the early 1980s, Steve's background includes traditional offset printing, screen printing, publishing, digital prepress production, computer programming, and typesetting. Steve often lectures on digital prepress and Internet topics and provides customized training for corporate clients on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. He has also served as technical editor for a variety of computer graphics titles.
Carla Rose has written more than two dozen computer books including Sams Teach Yourself Adobe Photoshop 7 in 24 Hours, Sams Teach Yourself Photoshop Elements 3 in 24 Hours, and Digital Memories: Scrapbooking with Your Computer. She has written for publications ranging from The Atlantic Fisherman to Adobe magazine to The New Yorker. Susan Smith has written various corporate manuals about using PageMaker, InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Photoshop. She regularly speaks at workshops and conventions across the country, teaching these programs to high school students and teachers. She has also edited a number of sports books. Susan currently works as a project manager, technical writer, and trainer.
