Searching Through the Stats

Think of the List Bin statistics options as a large, useful, very powerful database resource designed specifically for video editors. What this means is now you can use it to quickly identify, search, and sift through all the clips to find your specific shot or information pertaining to that clip. That is why it is so important to properly label each clip that you digitize or import. Do the following to use the search feature capabilities:

  1. Click a bin to select it.

  2. Select Edit > Find, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-F (Windows) or Command-F (Macintosh), or right-click (Windows) or Option-click (Macintosh) the bin and select Find from the pop-up menu. The Find window appears, as shown in Figure 1.21.

  3. Select which category heading you want to search through in the first Find entry field.

  4. Select whether you are searching for information that is or is not contained in the find.

  5. In the last field, enter the name or a description of the clip you are looking for.

  6. You can narrow down the search even more by entering information in both the category heading fields.

  7. Click Find to begin the search.
