Summary

As I stated at the beginning of this chapter, there are a number of things that can affect the performance of your WLAN. In this chapter, I explained some of the more common ones and their resolution. These included:

• Multipath interference issues

• Wi-Fi channels overlapping

• Theft of service

• Configuration errors

• Dealing with RF interference inside and outside of your home

• Interoperability issues

• Mounting and grounding antennas

• Optimizing equipment

You can trace most Wi-Fi problems to one of these issues. Dealing with these problems during planning and installation will help you to avoid trying to identify and deal with technical problems after your WLAN is up and running.
