Audience

The target audience of this book is networking professionals with diverse levels of experience. It is written for anyone who is new to IS-IS or has a decent level of familiarity , as well as the experienced routing protocol expert. The reader is expected to have knowledge of the basics of the TCP/IP Protocol suite, as well as IP routing concepts. The first chapter of the book provides an overview of IP routing and elaborates on how IP routers work and should be interesting to any networking professional. Even though a fair amount of the text is dedicated to the basics of IS-IS, a large section of the book covers advanced concepts including troubleshooting, design, deployment, and maintenance of IS-IS networks. The advanced sections are useful for networking professionals preparing for the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Routing and Switching Lab Exam, the CCIE IP Recertification Exam or similar professional certification tests.
