Broken Bitmaps

Have you imported bitmaps, placed them on your Stage, and run into some strange visual problem or defect? There have been times when a bitmap does something unpredictable. This may be due to the way you're placing the bitmap on the Stage. You can place an image on the Stage by dragging the bitmap symbol from the Library, but it's better to do it this way....

Convert the bitmap to raw artwork using Modify > Break Apart (CTRL-B). If the bitmap is inside a symbol, edit the symbol and break it apart there. Having the image broken apart ensures that it is displayed clearly and properly. Don't ask me why, because I think either way should work equally well. However, this is the method recommended by Macromedia as well as myself. That means you better listen. Pretty please?
