Templates are wonderful time-savers. They give us a place to start because a lot of work is done for us already. You most likely know how to create a new document from a template, but did you know you could create your own templates? Flash templates are just movies that are saved in a particular folder. There's nothing special about them. If you want to turn one of your documents into a template for future use, open that document and go to File, then Save As Template. Give your template a name. Choose or enter a new category, write a brief description, and click Save. The next time you open the New Document dialog, take a look at the Template tab to see your template included right along with all the others.
If you want some pointers on how to best format content in a template file, open some of the existing ones and see what Macromedia has done.
