Conclusion

High fives! We have made the round trip from client query to database and back and created a true three-tiered design that isolates the presentation layer on the client from the application logic on the server from the IT fundamentals on the database server. And we did it with some style, demonstrating the beauty of a very thin Flash client and the cleanliness of an easily reentrant stateless design.
