Books of this genre aren't written in smoke-filled garrets by suffering artists. There is a whole team of people behind every author that helps the book move from neural synapses and neurons to the printed page.

First on the list is Linda Harrison, my original editor at New Riders. A tougher editor you would not want to meet, but having worked with her for two years I quickly learned my craft from a master. Along the way, I have gained a dear friend and mentor, which is more than I could have expected when we first met.

Thanks also go to Angela Kozlowski, my Peachpit/Macromedia Press editor. Her wicked sense of humor, attention to detail, and understanding when things were at their roughest are deeply appreciated and also moved this book to a place where I originally thought I could take it.

Susan Hobbs, my development editor, and I have worked together on a previous book. In many respects, Susan taught me how to write these books and there isn't a word on any page of this book, or anything else I write for that matter, where I didn't feel her somehow looking over my shoulder.

Many thanks are also due to Rob Williams, my technical editor. Rob is a former student of mine who is destined for an amazing career in the New Media field. It is always fascinating when the student becomes the teacher and the teacher becomes the student. Thanks, Rob.

There are three people at Macromedia who should also be mentioned. Magnus Nirell, Macromedia's R&D Manager, patiently explained many of the more esoteric features of the application and stoically suffered through a few of my temper tantrums during the Captivate beta. Silke Fleisher, the Captivate Product Manager, introduced me to eLearning and the eLearning process. And I can't forget Suzanne Smith, the Captivate technical writer who helped when I got "stuck" trying to explain some of the more technical aspects of the application. I would also be remiss in not acknowledging the guidance, insight, and exposure to the RoboDemo community provided by Steven Shipe and Larry Walther who, it seems were RoboDemo users from Day One.

Though I went solo on this project, I want to thank former my coauthors, two of the infamous "Three Lost Souls" from the other two books we wrote together. Jordan Chilcott and Chris Flick were always there when I needed to "vent." Thanks guys!
