MIDI devices can be connected to your computer directly or through a MIDI interface. Once you have your devices connected and turned on, you can have Digital Performer automatically search for your devices, or you can add them manually.
NOTE
A MIDI device is any device that can convert musical information into digital data. The most common MIDI device is the electronic keyboard.
Digital Performer can search your computer for installed MIDI devices and automatically set them up.
Although the Autoconfigure feature does a good job of finding MIDI devices, there may be some devices it does not find, or you might want to do some fine-tuning. Using the Audio MIDI Setup window you can view, adjust, and install devices manually.
If you are using a MIDI interface, you must first install the software driver that accompanies your MIDI interface. From there, you can assign how your MIDI devices interact with that MIDI interface.
