Throughout this book there are references to how Painter mimics real-life painting as closely as possible. Paper textures are an excellent example of how this proves to be true. Just like in real-life painting, changing the paper texture in Painter changes how certain brushes react with the paper. Painter allows you to select from a variety of preset paper textures. It even allows you to work with different types of paper within the same document.
NOTE
Not every type of brush will show the grain of the paper. Certain brushes do not show the texture of the paper in the brush stroke.
