This chapter's goals were as follows :
To understand "output" cache management
To discuss client-based state management
To explore server-based state management
Coming from the CICS mainframe environment, I was impressed with ASP.NET's state and cache management support. My guess is that you are impressed too. Do spend some time exploring; you covered a lot of ground in this chapter, but more awaits you. As always, several references are included at the end of this chapter in the "To Learn More" section to assist you during your continued exploration.
In this chapter, I discussed output cache management. From there, I turned to state management. I divided the topic of state management into client-based and server-based subtopics. I provided a healthy amount of sample code to help illus trate the various points being discussed. As a bonus, you took a quick peek at the Web.config file during the session state discussion.
The next chapter covers reporting and information delivery.
