Chapter 8. ProLiant Management Tools

ProLiant management tools are composed of standard and optional software components for ProLiant servers called ProLiant Essentials. These standard and optional components include

• ProLiant Essentials Foundation Pack : The Foundation Pack is composed of the SmartStart and Management CDs and is included with ProLiant 300, 500, and 700 series servers. This chapter includes an in-depth look at Systems Insight Manager (SIM), which is included on the Management CD and provides powerful systems-management capabilities.

• ProLiant Essentials Foundation Pack extras : Extras extend the Foundation Pack functionality with tools available by downloads from hp.com. The SmartStart Scripting Toolkit is examined to provide an in-depth look at the features of this extras tool.

• ProLiant Essentials Value Packs : Value Packs are optional software for ProLiant servers that add advanced management capabilities. This chapter reviews the features and functionality for the Performance Management Pack (PMP) and Workload Management Pack (WMP) will be presented.
