Using OEM to Maintain Redo Log Groups and Members

Because Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) is the universal tool for maintaining the database, you can use it to help you maintain the online redo log groups associated with your database.

Adding Redo Log Groups

From the OEM console, expand your target working database from the Database folder, expand the Storage folder associated with that database, and right-click the Redo Log Groups folder from the navigator tree. Select Create from the resulting pop-up screen.

Enter the redo log group information on the screen that launches, specify the members that you want to associate with the group, and click Create.

Dropping Redo Log Groups

You can drop redo log groups and redo log members similarly through the Enterprise Manager interface.

Expand your chosen database from the Database folder, expand its Storage folder, and under its Storage folder, select the Redo Log Group that you want to remove. Right-click on the selected object, and select Remove to remove the group.

Relocating and Renaming Redo Log Members

From a launched OEM console, expand the database you want to maintain, and expand the Storage folder from the list. Next, expand the Redo Log Groups folder and, from within the folder, the group you want to maintain. Modify the redo log member information in the listing to rename or relocate the members in question and click Apply.
