Viewing Web Pages with Word

Word can also open Web pages stored on your computer or on another computer on the network. This makes it possible to view and edit Web pages within Word, even if they were not created with Word.

To open a Web page

1.

Choose File > Open (Figure 1) to display the Open dialog (Figure 31).

Figure 31. Use the Open dialog to locate and open Web page files.

2.

Choose Web Pages from the Enable popup menu.

3.

Use the dialog to locate and select the file you want to open.

4.

Click Open.

Word opens the Web page you indicated (Figure 32).

Figure 32. In this example, I've used Word to open a Web page I created and maintain with Macromedia Dreamweaver. Word has done a pretty good job of displaying the page's complex layout and graphics.

Tip

  • Double-clicking the icon for a Web page created with Word will open it in your default Web browsernot Microsoft Word.
