There are three scopes of deployment within Geronimo:
Serverwide
Application scope
Client scope
This relates to the ability to configure resources at the server level, the server-side application level and the client-side application level.
The serverwide scope is what has been demonstrated in this chapter. Resources deployed with the serverwide scope are available for use by any application. That is, serverwide scoped resources can be used by other serverwide-scoped resources as well as by other server-side applications but not client-side applications by default.
Application level and client level scoping are concerns for developers and J2EE module assemblers. In these scenarios, the resource adapter is configured within the application and not shared by other applications running on the server.
