SOAPConnect

SOAPConnect is a more recent toolkit offered by IBM/Lotus and enables LotusScript applications to invoke Web services. It is available either from the Lotus Developer Domain ( http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd ) as a stand-alone package (in the Sandbox area of the LDD site) or as part of the IBM Web Services Toolkit package from the IBM AlphaWorks site. To be precise, SOAPConnect is a partial implementation of the SOAP V1.1 standard for the LotusScript language. It provides several new LotusScript classes for formating and sending SOAP requests and receiving and accessing the responses.

Note that SOAPConnect provides for invoking or "consuming" Web services. It cannot be used to expose Domino functions as Web services. As we will show in subsequent chapters, Domino Web agents (LotusScript) or Domino Objects for Java can be used to provide Web service access to Domino function.
