Charts

Charts

The Chart tool lets you create charts based on information in Writer tables. You can use a wizard to help you set options for the chart.

Troubleshooting and Memory

If you have problems inserting charts, it might be a memory issue. See Managing the Amount of Memory Used on Graphics and Inserted Objects on page 119.

Creating and Modifying Charts

The process for creating and modifying charts in Writer is the same as it is for creating them in Calc. See Charts on page 590.

Automatically Updating Charts

Follow this procedure to update charts automatically when the tables they were based on change.

  1. Choose Tools > Options > Text document > General.

  2. Under Automatically, select the Charts option.

  3. Click OK.

Manually Updating Charts

You can set Writer to update charts manually when the contents of tables change. A good reason to do this is if you're making frequent changes to tables and you don't want charts to update until you're finished making changes. Constant chart updates take up memory and processing power and potentially slow down the table editing process.

  1. Choose Tools > Options > Text document > Other.

  2. Deselect the Update charts automatically option.

  3. Click OK.

  4. When you change the contents of a table, click somewhere in the table and press the F9 key.
