3.7. Summary

In this chapter, we have examined statistical channel modeling for UWB signals, including large-scale and small-scale models, as well as spatial models. Additionally, we briefly examined the impact of the discrete channel model on UWB modeling, particularly in the presence of per path frequency distortion. We have shown that UWB allows for the application of traditional channel modeling approaches as long as small modifications are made to the large-scale path loss model (separation of antenna and path effects) and provided that care is taken in the interpretation of small-scale models (discrete paths may not be physical multipath components, but may simply represent pulse distortion).
