The Book's CD

As we work through this book, we will build up a sample database built around a fictitious wholesale supplier of ice cream.

The CD-ROM that accompanies this book contains the sample databases used in the book. The CodeDatabases/Begin folder contains the IceCream.mdb database you should start with, and develop as you work through the chapters. When you reach the end of the book, and implement all the functionality we cover, you should end up with the IceCreamComplete.mdb in the CodeDatabases/Complete folder.

The CD also contains some freeware (which we'll mention later in the book) and Microsoft Data Access Components v2.7 (including ADO 2.7). You can download this from www.microsoft.com , but Microsoft kindly gave us permission to include the install file on the CD so that you could avoid lengthy download times.

The use of the MDAC 2.7 software is governed by an end user license agreement contained in the software. This software was reproduced by Wrox Press under an arrangement with Microsoft Corporation. If your CD-ROM is faulty, please return it to Wrox Press, which will arrange for its replacement. Please do not return it to Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Corporation does not provide any product support for this software; please do not contact it for product support.

End users of the MDAC 2.7 software included shall not be considered "registered owners" of a Microsoft product and therefore shall not be eligible for promotions, automatic upgrades and regular notices or other benefits extended to "registered owners " of a Microsoft product.

All of the software on the CD-ROM provided with this book is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind expressed or implied , including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Neither the manufacturer, the publisher, nor its dealers or distributors assumes any liability for any alleged or actual damages arising from the use of this software.

Finally, the CD contains some appendices:

  • Appendix A - Access Object Model

  • Appendix B - Access Events

  • Appendix C - ADO 2.7 Object Model

  • Appendix D - Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library Reference

  • Appendix E - ODBC and IIS

To help you navigate around the CD, start by opening the menu.html file.
