Open the View menu and select Header and Footer to open the Header and Footer toolbar. The cursor then moves to the header area in Print Layout view.
Type any text you want to print at the top of each page, pressing the Tab key to move between a left-aligned, centered, or right-aligned entry.
Click the Switch Between Header and Footer button to move from the header to the footer.
Move the mouse pointer over each button on the Header and Footer toolbar to review the available options. Click the toolbar's Close button when you're finished.

Headers and footers are text that prints at the top and/or bottom of pages in Word documents headers at the top, footers at the bottom. For example, you might want to place your name and the date as a header at the top of the document and the document's filename as a footer at the bottom.

Header and Footer Toolbar Options
You can include any type of text, page numbers, or the current date and time, and you can even apply formatting to the information in a header or footer. Click a button on the Header and Footer toolbar for each standard entry you want in your header or footer for example, Insert Page Number, Insert Number of Pages, Format Page Number, Insert Date, and Insert Time. You can also open the Insert AutoText drop-down list to select from the various AutoText entries (Created by, Created on, Filename, and so on).
