Where should I Put the Timeline?

After working in Flash for awhile, you may have rearranged your panels yourself, or you may have used one of the predefined panel sets, and you might be thinking to yourself, "The Timeline doesn't seem to be in the best place." If that's the case, here's a suggestion.

Place your Timeline above your Stage so that the only things to the left and right of it are the Toolbar and the main column of panels. The reason for this is that you want to be able to scroll across your Timeline using the horizontal scrollbar along the bottom. Sometimes putting the Timeline in the wrong place can vastly limit scrolling or even prevent it entirely. This is especially helpful if you have hundreds of frames on a particular timeline. The alternative to this would be to continually restructure your layout each time you want to scroll your Timeline. Hey, if that's what you want to do, then fine, don't listen to me (kidding).
