A New Approach

By meeting the challenges that IT departments face in their search for alignment, BTM fills a void that had long been ignored despite its yearly position on top ten lists of CIO concerns; despite its frequent appearance in magazine articles and analyst reports ; and despite its first- name familiarity among practitioners in the field. With BTM, however, the office of the CIO and the IT department have a new weapon to wield against the disconnect. And while the IT community would undoubtedly preferred to have come across such a solution a long time ago, in a sense the timing couldn't be better. Today, IT departments are searching desperately for an antidote to the pounding headache left over from their New Economy binge. This disruption has driven IT to reexamine its role in the business, survey the damage that the business/technology disconnect has caused, and ultimately recognize the opportunity for a new approach that aligns business and technology.
