Zhejiang has abundant non-metal mineral reserves, including fluorite, alunite, limestone and bentonite. Among the minerals, its fluorite and alunite reserves rank first and second respectively in China. Good soil and moderate rainfall provide favourable conditions for the growth of rice, tea, broad beans, hemp, oranges and angora. Raw silk and Longjing tea are well known at home and abroad. The Zhoushan Islands are one of the four major fishing grounds in China. Zhejiang's seaboard also has rich reserve of petroleum and natural gas.
