Chapter TEN. Advanced Site Management

One of our favorite true stories happened the day Adam was finishing a huge 7,500-page site with GoLive. Two hours before the site was supposed to go live, the client called and asked for some "minor last-minute changes." Adam knew that no last-minute change was minor, but he listened to the requests anyway.

What would surely have been a real nightmare with other Web-design software turned out to be a two-minute change with GoLive. It took longer to upload the updated files than to make the actual changes. The project was on time to the day and 15 percent under budget, and Adam wouldn't have done the site with anything other than GoLive.

There are so many cool things you can create with GoLive, but at the end of the day one of the most important factors to meeting (or even beating) a project deadline is powerful site management. We like the fact that GoLive can handle really large sites faster than ever before. We love the fact that we have multiple undos even with site-management tasks. And we appreciate that GoLive tracks hyperlinks in HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PDF, QuickTime, and SWF.

Features like these allow you to work quickly and creatively, and you never have to worry about broken links or missing images. Even all the third-party actions and extensions (see Tips in Chapter 13) work seamlessly with the link-tracking features of the Site window.
