You can create and store a lot of information in Outlook ”more than 20GB when you use the new Unicode PST format. Even the older PST format, with a limit of just 2GB, could hold a large number of Outlook items. As a result, it can be difficult to find the information you need when it's mixed in with so much information you no longer need.

Backing up your Outlook data is important; otherwise , you risk losing everything if your computer dies or is stolen. Although you could easily re-create the accounts, the messages might be gone forever.
