Applying a Watercolor Effect to the Upper Snapshot

In a real watercolor painting, the ink (or sometimes pencil) drawing occurs first, after which the watercolor is applied to the drawing. Sometimes the watercolor is painted first, and then the ink drawing is added on top. In this task, we'll add watercolor "paint" to the upper clip on the Video 2 track with the Facet effect. In an upcoming task, we'll apply a "pen and ink" type of effect to the lower clip on the Video 1 track.

Apply the Facet Effect to the Clip in Video Track 2

Click the Effects and Transitions button on the Media panel to switch to the Effects and Transitions view.

On the Effects and Transitions view, type facet in the text box.

Select the Facet effect and drag it onto the watercolor_FF.bmp clip in the Video 2 track on the Timeline[click here]

The watercolor_FF.bmp clip, before the Facet effect has been applied.

The watercolor_FF.bmp clip, after the Facet effect has been applied.

Note

The Facet effect in Premiere Elements has no controls, so there are no adjustments to make in the Properties panel. As with some other effects in Premiere Elements, such as the Black & White effect, this is simply a "drag, drop, you're done" function.
