Part Overview

Now that we’ve recorded all our raw footage, it’s time to bring it all into Camtasia Studio for editing. This includes everything from splicing together clips and cutting out unusable content, to inserting additional media streams like audio and PIP, to adding special effects like callouts, transitions, and zoom and pan. There are even some interactive elements that can be added, such as clickable hot spots and quizzes. In this unit, we’ll cover all of the above, and then some.

This unit contains three chapters:

  • Chapter 9: Working with Camtasia Studio. Here, I’ll guide you through the program’s user interface as well as teach you how to import all that wonderful footage you just created. Then you’ll get a crash course in editing your clips: how to shorten them, split them, and combine them with other clips to create a fluid and robust presentation. Finally, we’ll discover the utility of working with markers in Camtasia Studio.

  • Chapter 10: Working with Other Media: Audio, PIP, and Title Clips. After cleaning up your screen video footage, check out this chapter for aid in adding new streams of content to augment your base footage. The addition of custom title clips, recording of audio narration, and the post-production recording of camera video for picture-in-picture are all addressed.

  • Chapter 11: Editing Effects. In this chapter, we’ll learn how to add a little moxie to our videos in the form of picture-in-picture editing, screen transitions, callouts, interactive Flash hot spots, zoom and pan effects, and quizzing features. With Camtasia Studio 4, you also have the ability to enhance your audio narration, survey your audience, and add captioning to aid in achieving Section 508 compliance.
