Enabling Replication in Your Application

Replication can be implemented in many ways with SQL Server 2000. SQL Server 2000 provides many wizards, the Enterprise Manager, and even programming interfaces that enable you to implement diverse replication strategies for your business's needs. The SQL Server Enterprise Manager also enables you to monitor replication status. This is done through the Replication Monitor, which enables you to view and manage replication agents across your enterprise.

To enable replication, you need a Publisher, Distributor, and Subscriber. The first step is creating a Distributor. After that you can create a publication and set articles within that publication.

Finally, you need to define the various Subscribers who subscribe to a publication. The first thing to do is to install and create the Distributor. To do this, use a handy wizard called the Configure Publishing and Distribution wizard.
