Solaris Agent Interface

 < Day Day Up >

The CSA for Solaris does not have a GUI as is available on the other operating systems. There is, however, a utility called csactl on the Solaris systems installed by CSA that provides some of the same functionality. This section describes the csactl utility and how to stop the Solaris agent.

csactl Utility

The csactl utility is located at /opt/CSCOcsa/bin/csactl.

NOTE

The csactl utility is available only to root.

The csactl utility is a command-line utility, and no graphical component is associated with it. To perform the various tasks available, the user appends the appropriate argument to the end of the csactl command line (for example, /opt/CSCOcsa/bin/csactl poll to force a manual poll of the agent). The following is a list of supported command-line arguments:

  • poll Forces a manual poll. The response lets the local user know whether the poll succeeded and whether a software update is available for download.

  • resetlog Allows all log messages rather than the default holdback.

  • status Responds with the status of the agent and whether a software update is available.

  • swupdate Updates the agent software to the current available level.

  • infotext Sends custom informational events to the MC.

  • warningtext Sends custom warning events to the MC.

  • alerttext Sends custom alert events to the MC.

  • about Shows the agent software version.

Stopping the Solaris Agent

To stop the Solaris agent, you must use a command-line procedure because there is no Solaris agent GUI. To stop the agent, type /etc/init.d/ciscosec stop. To restart the agent in Solaris, type /etc/init.d/ciscosec start.
