Chapter 34
This chapter introduces Microsoft Paint, the drawing program included with Microsoft Windows 2000 that lets you create and edit graphics images. You can use Paint to produce anything from simple text-oriented flyers and line diagrams to complex works of art. You can start from scratch on a blank canvas, or you can modify existing images. Any graphics information that you can copy to the Clipboard, you can paste into Paint and modify—everything from clip art images to images created in other Windows-based programs (like Microsoft Excel charts) to scanned images.
As installed with Windows 2000, Paint reads and writes standard Windows .bmp files. Other programs you install might include additional graphics filters that work with Paint. For example, with Microsoft Office 2000 installed, Paint also supports JPEG and GIF file formats. You'll find the GIF and JPEG options useful if you use Paint to prepare or edit images for use in Web pages.
