There are many different ways to sell a vision. One way is articulating your vision to people to see if it resonates. A corporation is not just technologists. You have to interact with the other parts, as an engine has to hit on all the cylinders to run well.
If I have an idea for the way things should be, then I go to the sales organization and see if they can sell it. I'll talk to our customer base to see if this meets a pain point they have and if it would solve the problem. I'll talk to our support people to see if this will solve a problem where they're hoping someone will have a solution. You can't just sell your vision on a technology basis. It has to meet the needs of the market and show that it will be good for your organization as a whole.
