If you purchase Word 2003 as part of the Microsoft Office System, as most people do, Word is installed by default when you install Office. In most cases, the program will begin installing automatically when you put the first installation CD in the drive; however, if you want to add or remove programs or features later, you'll use Add Or Remove Programs in the Control Panel to make those changes. This appendix walks you through the process of installing and getting updates for your version of Word. You'll also learn how to detect and repair errors that may occur while you're working.
Note | The Microsoft Office System does not work with systems that are running operating systems other than Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later or Microsoft Windows XP. For system hardware and software requirements, see the sidebar "Hardware and Software Requirements for Word 2003." |
