As a fun exercise for this book, I decided to make a little flyer advertising my dog, Terri, as a neighborhood watchdog. Besides barking at strangersespecially strange catsshe loves to watch me work, to the point where she'll stick her nose on my laptop keyboard if I leave it within her reach. "You might as well have her help you with the book," my wife said. "And if she can pick up a little extra cash doing guard duty, that wouldn't hurt, either. She eats a lot."
