This is my first try at a flyer for Terri.

The first draft of Terri's flyer.

It came out pretty bland, didn't it? I'll make it cuter in a minute. But first, I notice that the word "neighbrhood" has a squiggly line under it. This warns of a possible misspelling. Right-click the underlined word, and one or more alternatives appear. I'll choose "neighborhood" as the correct spelling. (If the word that generated the alert is a proper name or for some other reason isn't in the OOo dictionary, you can click Add in the Spellcheck dialog box so that it will be in the dictionary the next time you use it.)

Spellchecking a single word.

You can also choose the typeface (the font) and size either for the entire document or for a single word or line. Pressing Ctrl-A selects everything in the document. This is the standard "Select All" combination for nearly all popular software. To select a single word or a group of words within the text, highlight the words you want to change by clicking and dragging over the part you want to change.
