INTRODUCTION
Suppose you are working on a document and need to search for data pertaining to what you are writing about. Instead of opening your Web browser, you can simply use the Web toolbar in your Office application. You can use the Web toolbar in Office applications to open documents on the Internet; browse Web documents; jump to other documents, objects, or pages using hyperlinks; or even share your documents on the Web. If you have ever used a Web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator), this toolbar should look familiar. Keep in mind that you need to be connected to the Internet for this task; otherwise, Office will try to connect you after you use the Web toolbar buttons.
TIP
Searching the Web
Some of the best Web sites to search for information are www.yahoo.com, www.google.com, and www.excite.com.
To search the Web for information about a particular topic, click the Search the Web button on the Web toolbar.
Office launches a new default browser window with a search engine page displayed; conduct your search as normal. When finished, click the window's Close button.
If you know the Internet address (URL) you want to visit, click the down arrow next to the Go button on the Web toolbar and select Open Hyperlink.
The Open Internet Address dialog box opens. In the Address field, type the URL you want to visit and press Enter; your default browser opens and displays the page.
TIP
Closing the Web Toolbar
Open the View menu and select Toolbars, Web to close the Web toolbar.
TIP
If you frequently visit a certain page, you can add it to your Favorites list, making it easier to access. To do so, open the page using the Web toolbar. Then click the down arrow next to the Favorites button on the Web toolbar and select Add to Favorites to open the Add Favorite dialog box. Click the OK button to accept the default page name (although you can assign any name you want to a Web page Favorites listing).
